Drobo erweitern??

Hey, hat jemand Erfahrungen mit der Erweiterung des Drobo?
Wenn ich z.B. anfangs eine 2 TB Partitionsgröße festgelegt habe und später bei vollem Drobo mehr will, was passiert wenn ich mehr als 2 TB nutzbaren Platz drin hätte, bleibt der bis zur neuen Formatierung ungenutzt, oder vergrößert sich die Partition bzw. kann man eine zweite erstellen? -

Neue Partition. Einmal auf 2GB festgelegt, bleibts auch dabei.

Aber geht das automatisch, wird man gefragt oder muss man mit dem Disk Utility eine anlegen?

Habe es nicht probiert, aber ich gehe davon aus, dass du es selbst machen musst. Der Assistent kommt imho nur hoch, wenn du mit einem leeren Drobo anfängst. Also Disk Util

hallo,
wenn ich richtig rein gehört habe,
kann hfs+ keine variablen partitionen veralten.
es muss also eine partition angelegt werden, die die wunsch grösse haben sollte. diese grösse müsste aber nicht direkt mit allen hdd´s vorhanden sein.bevor weiter fragen kommen,

@timo Und ich bin immer davon ausgegangen, dass der Drobo die Erweiterung selbst vornimmt. Wofür habe ich denn sonst so viel Geld bezahlt? :-)
Deshalb noch einmal ins Handbuch geschaut und dort steht:
"Drobo will simply create a new volume resulting in an additional “virtual” hard drive, where both virtual drives share the total capacity available on your Drobo."Also gehe ich davon aus, dass es bei Bedarf automatisch geschieht.

Jepp. Der Drobo nimmt die Erweiterungen selbst vor - allerdings erweitert er nicht die vorhandene Partionen sondern legt eine neue an. Ergo: Das Festplattendienstprogramm kann geschlossen bleiben.

It allows you to grow into a single, large volume over time rather than needing multiple smaller volumes.oder auch
Q: What happens if I initially formatted my Drobo as a 2TB volume and then add more than 2TB of protected capacity?
A: If you format Drobo for a certain volume size (i.e. 2TB volume during initial format) and then add more protected capacity than can be contained in that volume (i.e. you add four 1.5TB drives over the course of a few days), Drobo Dashboard will prompt you to create a second volume for that new space. You can specify a size up to 16TB for that new volume (even if you don't ever plan on having that much disk space).grüsse und eine schönen Tag

Genau so habe ich die Vorgehensweise vermutet, ich habe es gestern vergessen zu erwähnen. Drobo Dashboard übernimmt das Anlegen des neuen Volumes. Disk Utility braucht man dazu wohl nicht.
Ich bin mal gespannt, wie das bei einem Drobo funktioniert, der ohne ständige Dashboard-Kontrolle an ein Airport angeschlossen ist - meiner beispielsweise...
